Our Story
Rachel Hall, Creative Director & Co-Founder
The Barre Collective was founded with a singular vision: to provide Concord's adult community with a sanctuary for professional dance education. We believe that the discipline of ballet, the rhythmic precision of tap, and the expressive power of jazz are not just physical exercises, but vital tools for personal growth and artistic expression. Our mission is to cultivate a space where every dancer can rediscover their strength, grace, and joy in an environment that honors the unique journey of every individual.
An lifelong artist, Bethany carries a bachelors degree from Shepherd University where she studied vocal performance with a concentration in musical theater. She has toured the UK with vocal performance groups and performed in various productions, both in lead roles and as an ensemble member. Since obtaining her degree, she has gone on to a successful career in finance, working for Fortune 100 companies such as Wells Fargo and Visa. As an adult, Bethany has paired her passion for dance with her desire to give back to the community that has supported her after relocating to Concord from West Virginia in 2016.
Rachel has been passionate about dance since childhood. She trained in ballet, performed with the Cartersville City Ballet Company, and continued dancing while earning her bachelor's degree in Education from Shorter University. Throughout her life, she has taught ballet and found joy in helping others discover confidence through movement. Professionally, Dr. Rachel Hall serves as the Associate Dean of Education at Central Piedmont Community College. She is also a former elementary school teacher, the founder of a bilingual preschool, and an author and educational consultant. Her lifelong commitment to education shapes her approach to teaching, creating classes that are welcoming, encouraging, and focused on helping every participant succeed.

Our retail store
We understand how hard it can be to find dancewear and accessories for adult dancers! It can be a challenge to find a brick-and-morter location that stocks adult sizes, let alone cuts that are flattering for a wider array of body types.
It's why here at The Barre Collective, we strive to make it convenient for our dancers to have access to a variety of dancewear and dance accessory options. Whether at the studio or at home, practicing your art should feel good and make you feel good!
